The stimulating and innovative projects we provide address key social issues such as health, education and social inclusion, we have been at the forefront of community work for many years. Sportsmen/women or footballers understand their responsibilities and help effect a positive change in society.

Our aims would be to set a great example to the rest of the sporting world and show how far sport can be used to influence good. We hope to show the positive impact that football and sport can help in the lives of young people.

‘One Game One Community’

We have promoted education through football under the banner of sport4charity, Africa and the rest of the world has no more influential role models than its professional footballers. We have the ability through our work to motivate and enthuse and inspire the youth of today.”

Kedougou

Home Town of Salif Diao Premiership Footballer and Senegal International. The project was originally started to encourage children to attend school in the village of Kedougou, Senegal 700 km from the Capital Dakar. Previously, if children wanted to attend school and join a sport academy they would have to leave their family and friends to live in the capital Dakar as Salif did aged 13. For most children this isolation from home life meant that they did not have the support they needed. Salif set up a programme to keep children with their families. The academy now helps over 85 children from the age of 6 and those older children attend a professional school. Prior to being involved in the programme 85% of the children did not attend school. The philosophy of the academy is to encourage the playing of sport while attending school, put simply; no school no sport. Read more...

Rufisque

Rufisque is situated outside the capital Dakar, Senegal the programme has a similar concept to the one in Kedougou but deals with an older age group. The programme has developed a skills school for children who are too old to attend school but have no education. They are called provisional schools which provide skills training for electrician and carpenters. Youths attending the school are allowed to enter the sport programme whilst being educated with a trade. Sport 4 Charity helps to provide valuable equipment and teachers, while providing sports facilities, coaches and managers to run the programmes. There is a close working relationship between the school and the sport programme, the philosophy is the same in each area no school, no sport. The vital skills training programme furnishes people with a trade that will give them a better future. These trained craftsmen and women will have the expertise required to start businesses, bringing a renewable working resource to assist the community and even provide employment opportunities for future apprentices.
